It's that time of year where we all discuss the books we are most looking forward to in the coming year.
I feel like this year is more important for me to talk about this since I want to read more now that school is finishing up for me. I will have so much more time to dedicate to reading and I'm really looking forward to it! I'm so excited to dive into new books in the new year!
Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi
I am so excited for this book! I heard about this book a while ago when the author got her record breaking book deal. But now that the release date is almost upon us (March 6, 2018), I cannot wait to devour this book.
This book sounds so incredibly unique and I'm excited to read about the culture Adeyemi puts into her story. The characters sound really compelling and I think this is a story people will be talking about for years to come.
I am also really excited because I haven't read a good book about magic in a long while, so I look forward to getting my feet into this world since it sounds like it's a series. So excited!
Brightly Burning by Alexa Donne
I admit, this is one book I would never have heard of if it wasn't for Author Mentor Match. One of the founders of AMM is the author of this book and she has a YouTube channel that I now frequent because of the writing "contest" she hosts.
She describes her book as Jane Eyre in space. I've never read Jane Eyre, but I love space and that was enough to convince me to buy it. I am so excited to read about a world set in space. If you haven't noticed, I adore The 100, and I've been looking for a book set in space for a while. This book seems to be the perfect one to coincide with that!
Release Date: May 1, 2018
The Spring Girls by Anna Todd
This is another one I've been looking forward to for a long time. I've been reading Anna Todd's work since her Wattpad days when she was still writing Harry Styles fanfiction (I own most of her published works as well). This one intrigued me because it's her first book that wasn't based off the After universe she created and it's an odd retelling (in my opinion). Perhaps it's just me, but I loathed Little Women when I read it in fifth grade (I went to a charter school....). I feel like I would probably like the story now, but I am most certainly excited to pick this up. This is also going to be the first book where I don't feel any expectations of the author, and have no background of who she based her characters off of. I can't wait to read it!
Release Date: January 2, 2018
Keeper by Kim Chance
Okay guys... I've already started reading this, and HOLY CRAP KITTENS IS IT GOOD. I have an e-arc of the book since I'm part of Kim's street team and it is so good! I'm planning on finishing this book in the next week or so, but guys! This is one you need to pick up! If you watch any sort of pop culture, you'll get so many of the references it's unreal.
I've been watching Kim's videos since she started, and I have to say that this is one author that I'm so excited about holding her book in my hands. Even though we've only talked a handful of times on social media, I feel like she's one of my close friends.
Release Date: January 30, 2018
A Reaper at the Gates by Sabaa Tahir
This is the third book in the Ember in the Ashes series and I am so excited! I read the first two in the series earlier this year, and gah! They're so good. I love Sabaa Tahir's writing style and how she is unapologetically violent. I aspire to write in the same way.
I also just want to know what happens to Elias! GAH!
Release Date: May 22, 2018
A Court of Frost and Starlight by Sarah J. Maas
I AM SO EXCITED FOR THIS BOOK. I read the entirety of the ACOTAR books earlier this year and fell in love with Sarah J. Maas' writing style. It is so stunning and her descriptions are on point.
I can't wait to find out what happens with my favorite characters in this one!
Release Date: May 1, 2018
Zenith by Sasha Alsberg & Lindsay Cummings
I have been waiting for this book to come out for AGES. I pre-ordered this book in January of 2017 and I cannot believe I finally get to read it! EEP! This is another space novel and I cannot even handle how excited I am for space adventures. Should I mention I want to write an epic space romance book? No. That's for another post.
BUT GUYS! I am so excited to read this book and get a feel for the world especially since it's a duology. I know how hard the authors worked, so I look forward to picking this up next month!
Release Date: January 16, 2018
The Savior's Champion by Jenna Moreci
This is all I have of the cover so far since she hasn't released it yet! But this book is supposed to come out some time in 2018 and I am super excited! It's a fantasy novel and Jenna has been releasing drawings of her characters on tumblr for months now and I am so excited to get to dive into her world! EEP!
I hope you all enjoyed this post! Let me know what books you're looking forward to reading in 2018!
