Weekly Novel Aesthetic | Nature

I wanted to start doing something special for all of you as I work on my novel. I wanted to start sharing my aesthetics here on my blog as an easy way for me to talk about them. I participate in #StoryLoversAesthetic over on Twitter (Created and hosted by Jenna Streety and Devon Harry). Every Monday they release the weekly theme, and in honor of Earth Day, this week's theme was Nature. I was all here for it, so I'm so excited to share it with you.

I feel the need to throw a quick reminder that all images were found on Pinterest. All credit goes to their original owners.

Nature in my novel is so important. Scotland has and always will be at the heart of the story, and I wanted to showcase that with the geography as well as the culture of the book. Scotland is also a naturally magical place with magic being ingrained into the lore of the country.

When I visited Scotland a few years ago, I remember being so inspired and just wanting to write all the things. That place is my muse now and forever. It's something that feels so magical, and I wanted to pay homage to that.

Alongside Scotland, flowers and plants are also quite prominent in a portion of my world. I have a place called Eilean na Beatha (which translates to Island of Life). It's so full of color and life, and there isn't a surface that isn't touched by foliage. I imagine the castle crawling with climbing roses and ivy and just feeling so much alive. I cannot wait to write this place into existence.
