I'm Amanda, or A.J. Winter. I'm the author of several unpublished novels. I'm starting this journey of beginning new adventures. Those adventures, you ask? Well, I want to have a literary agent for one. And two, I would love to be able to walk into a Bares & Noble and see my books on the shelves. That's something I've dreamed about for ten years now.
I used to write on a website called Wattpad. As my updates became less and less frequent, it was pretty clear that I needed to figure out the direction I wanted my life to go. I enjoyed my time on that website, and the few opportunities that came alongside of it. But this is where my journey is now. I'm here and I'm loving life. Especially now that I have graduated college because that's pretty crazy, isn't it?
Since it's almost 2018, I thought I would go through my goals that I want to happen over the course of the next twelve months. I still can't believe that it's 2018.
1) Find a Literary Agent
This one seems pretty self explanatory. I have been writing this in my yearly to-do's for the past few years. Okay, maybe the past year... but this year I'm determined to make it happen. My book is pretty much at the stage where I've taken it as far as I can on my own. I'm super proud of this book, and I can't wait to see what comes of it in the next several months.
2) Read lots of books
This is a huge deal to me. The past few years, with college getting in the way, my reading has mostly consisted of critics and classics. No offense to my professors, but I'd really like to read trashy romance novels or high fantasy books in my free time. Since I graduate in less than a week, I suddenly will have all the free time in the world to read. I'm really looking forward to it! I hope to read about sixty books, but we'll see!
3) Update Blog Frequently
I've always loved blogging and getting my thoughts out there. I've tried vlogging, but if I'm honest, it's not where my heart is at. I'm better at jotting down my words rather than communicating them verbally. I'm a introvert, so it's not that big of a surprise. Anyways, I'd really love to expand my blog and give you guys a run through of what writing is like for me.
4) Finish the outlines for two books
I'm working on two outlines right now. One of them is for the sequel to Vigilant and the other is for a book I started for my capstone class for the English major. It has themes from Moby-Dick; or, The Whale as well as the Arthurian Romance Tristan and Iseult. I am obsessed with working on both of these at the moment.
5) Maintain a social life outside of school
Since I'm graduating, I will have a harder time staying in contact with people I went to school with. I would love to maintain these friendships, so I'm putting this in here to have a reminder for myself.
6) Find a job
I do need to pay off my student loans.... time to be a real adult!
7) Finish editing the fifth draft of VIGILANT
This really should have been at the top, ahaha. I want to finish the fifth draft by mid-January. I am so excited, and really antsy, about finishing it. I just want it to be done.
That's all I have, folks! I hope you enjoyed this first post! I look forward to seeing you all next time!
Have wonderful day!
